For the month of September, I have collected a total of S$656.30 in dividends. No new additions.
- Mapletree Industrial Trust: S$48.60
- PLife REIT: S$105.20
- HPH Trust: S$90
- AIMS AMP: S$412.50
A reader of mine had kindly suggested that I should calculate my 'Monthly Average Dividends' in this manner - 'Total Dividends collected' divided by 12 months. So, from now onwards, I shall be using this new calculation method.
Headwinds ahead:
- QE Tapering
- US debt ceiling fight
- Potential currency crisis in India and Indonesia
- War in Syria
- German elections
- German elections

can i suggest you install a chatbox in your blog so we can chat with you in real time?
Hi DW,
Besides being an above average investor, you can draw pretty well too!
Hi DW,
Noticed you have Hutchison Port Trust. Do you think is a good to hold long term for div.? What's your view on the good entry point? Appreciate your reply :)
Hi, I am vested in Valuetronics and IT tech group. Both paid good dividends in the past years. What's your view f them ?
lol...a third of sept is alr over..so far there is no big drop in shares...which is a good things...but come nearer are lots of world event which was shake singapore shares...sit tight and kio some cheap shares !!!
Reit counters have 2 significant drops this year. Despite the focus is on dividends, if we are to reverse the time frame, is it foreseeable that we can do differently to reduce or gain from it ?
Hi DW !
Do you suggest getting REITs now at this unstable period? I'm looking for long term dividend yield and current REITs price is rather tempting. Any recommendation of REITs and the price to buy in? :P
Anyway may i know your opinion on NSL Ltd?
Thank you!
Nice portfolio for the long term. However, the dividend stocks and Reits in reds seems like Ex dividend every days during the downtrend. Dividends collected erased by capital depreciation.
Hi DW,
As a new trader, I'm looking at some affordable counters that pay constant dividend over the years. Do you think going into REIT now can be a good long term dividend investment? For example, SPH REIT?
What can be a good entering price for these counters?
Neratel Current 0.75
Singpost Current 1.28
800 Super holding (waste management company) Current 0.25
NatSteel Limited Current 1.46 (Any thoughts on Natsteel?
Thank you! =)
Hi DW, may I know why you did not sell your REITS? Are you truly committed to your passive strategy? Most of your dividends gains have been reduced, including your base capital as well! Of course that might be temporary but if you sold and bought again at the lows, you could have prevent that from happening and made a huge profit. For example, Suntec is down almost 25% since Apr!
Hi DW,
For a newbie, how much would you recommend me to save up before I embark on my first trade? currently starting to making savings every month.
Hi anonymous,
I did consider setting up a chat box. But I dun think I have the time to chat in real time as I am busy with work. I think it is better for readers to post their questions or comments. Then, I have time to think before answering. Others readers can benefit from the discussion in the comments section too.
Cheers!
Hi Mr 15HHWW,
Thanks for the compliment. ^^
I look forward to showcase more of my artistic skills.
Hi MJ,
I bought HPH trust bcos I want a stock that is a proxy to china's economy. A lot of countries do trade with china, so I believe ports will do ok. Secondly, I have no confidence in s-chips, so I chose HPH trust. Thirdly, the cash distributions are decent.
However, having said all that, u can see that HPH is only a tiny portion of my portfolio bcos it is very sensitive to china's economy.
So, my advice is to buy around US$0.90 and dun make this ur largest holding.
Hi DW,
Thanks for your reply on HPH. Considering to tap on China market as well .. Am thinking of HPH or CapitaRetail China Trust. Any thought? :)
Hi DW,
May I know what's the different between Capital Mall Trust and Capital Malls Asia? Besides one is Trust one is not...
Now is it time to buy these two stocks?
Thank you
Hi, im a regular fan of yr blog. Gd portfolio. Think yr M1 price is not updated, as u have sold off and buy back. Should factor in the captial gain and show the adjusted price instead.
Being a passive income collector, $3.33 wont not be appealing to many.
It would be not so nice if others use it as a benchmark to enter :)
Hi DW,
I am a very new investor and just got my trading account open. I am looking at a 3 year time frame on investment so I can pay for my house downpayment in 3 years.
I got about 30k right now and around 800 to invest monthly and am looking at REITS and Telecomms. Do you think M1 is good to buy at this time? In addition, is AscottREIT (A68U) good to buy? I see some consistent payout so far from them.
Overall, I am looking at Singpost, SPH, SPHREIT, Comfortdelgro, Ascottreit, Neratel Telecomm and other counters. Let me know your thoughts, thanks!
Hi DW,
Any reason why you have invested into Telcos, besides regular dividend payouts? I looked at M1's balance sheet and its current ratio is not healthy, and its share price is way higher than its NAV.
Hi DW,
As i am trying to replicate your strategy. Any tips you can give on the criteria you partake to choose stocks?
It's great to stumble upon your blog as you have real-life experience in SGX!
Got a quick question: can you recommend an online trader that a non-resident foreigner can use to trade in Singapore?
Much appreciated. Cheers!
