Spending My Dividends - Movie, Food, Clothing

I know my previous post was rather depressing. All the terrifying consequences of a Greek default seem so real and possible. Let's talk about something more positive and cheerful, shall we?

Retail therapy. Yeah! ^^

After receiving about $2K cash dividends last month, I decided to use a portion of it to reward myself a little. After saving most of the dividends to my opportunity funds, this is how I spent my dividends last weekend. Please pardon my sub-standard photo-taking skills.

I watched The Green Lantern. Awesome movie. Great effects. I love the moral behind the story. A person must always have faith and a strong will.

After the movie, I had lunch at the highly-recommended "Burger Bench & Bar".
I chose the omelette & cheese beef burger, wif potato chips & root beer.
This is the best burger I have ever tasted! No kidding! 0_o
The buns are soft. The beef patty is juicy and tender. Yummy!^^
Price is around $12. Definitely value for money.
Warning: Once you tried it, you probably will not eat burgers from MacDonald's and Burger King, MOS Burger etc etc........

After having an unexpectedly satisfying meal (with a few burps at the end) >_<",
I went shopping at Burberry, iON Orchard.
Service was prompt. The sales personnel was polite enough.
However, the layout of the boutique is kinda confusing at first.
Managed to get the checkered collar polo shirts. ^^
Even the bag looks so stylish! Wow! Got ribbon some more. Nice touch.

I spent ~$500 in total. Within budget. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and it was money well-spent.

So, how do you usually spend your cash dividends?

Peace Out,
Dividends Warrior

Hi,

Normally I dun spend any money from dividend as it is meant for reinvestment. I draw the line clearly so that my personal expenses will not mixed with my investment. However I do spend my bonuses on my family, mostly on trips and food.

Spent on a new desktop last year!
(Or rather, also part investment because it is used for preparing tuition materials!)

I try to make expenditures come from dividends, and savings from active work to go into investments. In fact, at current age, my dividends could cover my expenditures. However, we have to take note that as one ages, expenses generally increase... :(

Hi FA,

I like your way of spending too. Business is business, Expenses is expenses. You are indeed a disciplined investor. ^^

Hi JW,

Ah.... turning an expenditure into an investment. Nice. ^^

Your spending style is identical to mine. Dividends for spending, salary for saving and investments.

All the best in your tuition career. U are writing a book on Physics rite? I wish it in Popular bookstore soon. ^^

Hi Anonymous,

Singtel is a stable blue chip in a defensive industry. At around $3.05, you can accumulate a few lots. However, the price will probably go down after XD. After XD, you can accumulate more.

Well, for SIA, personally, I am not really confident about its future performance bcos it is under pressure from the volatile oil price and uncertain global economy. My advise is to collect below $14 for the huge dividends.

Glad you are having fun!

Where did you get the burger? When I return end of this year I must try it!

Hi Spore Man of leisure,

Thanks for visiting my blog.

I got the burger at "Burger Bench & Bar" in Cineleisure. The store is on the ground floor. You really should try it. The potato chips are really good too.

Hi

I am a newbie in stocks trading, am learning. Hope to make as much dividend as you in near future. but it is still far.. The market seems to have taken a turn today. the question on my mind is if this is a real bottom and the rebound? Any thoughts on this?

ps: on burger bench bar, I have a review on it in my blog =)

Hi there Dividends Warrior,

I will save and reinvest my dividend. Usually my practice is to just spend it on a good meal or a relaxing massage for me and my wife. This usually costs less than $100 and I try to keep the amount I spend to less than 5% of the dividend received. In other words, I will save or reinvest the 95%.

Cheers,
Musicwhiz

Dear Dividend Warrior,

You have earned the right to spend your dividends on anything you please. But did that checkered collar polo shirt cost you $460+? Why??

Hi DW,

Congratulations! :)

Yes, we should pamper ourselves once in a while although I much prefer spending money on my loved ones. ;)

Hi Musicwhiz,

Yes, I agree. Saving and reinvesting some of the dividends is important.

Your wife is so fortunate to have such a pampering husband like you! ^^

Hi FoodieFC,

Thanks for visiting my blog. You have a fantastic food blog! ^^

I think the rebound is coming as corporations start to report their 2nd quarter earnings. Although markets are still facing pressures from possible China tightening and the US debt ceiling deadline in Aug.

My advise is to hold on to ur money and be patient for better opportunities.

Hi Anonymous,

Yes. Each polo shirt cost me $240. I believe Burberry is considered a luxury brand. Lol..... ^^

Hi AK71,

Thanks for visiting my blog and dropping a comment. ^^

I do want to spend on my loved ones, especially my parents. But they always tell me not to waste the money. Lol.....Sighz.....Spend on them still have to be scolded. Well, it is good in a way too. They taught me the value of thriftiness since young.
