Unrealized Paper Gain (S$)

For the month of June, I received a total of S$1, 202.10 in cash distributions from PLife REIT, AIMS AMP and First REIT.
- PLife REIT: S$105.60
- AIMS AMP: S$997.50
- First REIT: S$99
The recent market correction has punished yield stocks pretty hard. My paper gain dropped significantly from S$75k to the current $52k in just a month. You might be wondering, "Hey DW, are you able to sleep at night? Aren't u worried?" Quite the contrary. I cannot be happier! Hahahaha.........
So why am I not worried?
Firstly, my average monthly dividends is maintained above S$1k. I feel that a consistent cash flow helps to cushion market volatility. Besides, capital gain has never been my investing focus. If it was, I would have called myself "Capital Gain Warrior". Don't get me wrong. Capital gain is nice to have, but not my focus.
Secondly, the recent market weakness allow me to grow my portfolio further. I divested KGreen Trust and added SATS, MapleTree Industrial Trust and Neratel to my portfolio. SPH has also confirmed that the long-awaited and much-rumored SPH REIT is coming very soon. I am looking forward to the special dividends. ^^
My advice shall be Keep Calm and Carry On Collecting Dividend$. ^^
Rock On!

Hi,
LEft a query on Bling Bling post but did not get a response.
Is your panda gold coin sealed in the capsule or are you able to open it to take the coin out?
Hi Dolly,
The capsule is completely sealed. It cannot be opened.
I bought it from Singapore Mint. ^^
hi dw, could you share the reason of divesting k green thrust ?
Hi Fang Shouyi,
I divested K-Green Trust as the management did not deliver on their promises. They have been talking about possible acquisitions for a long time. But so far, nothing yet.
This recent market correction also present me a chance to enter better stocks. So, I took it. ^^
Hi DW
Sorry I'm a noob in investment.
Just wondering why you bought SATS. Understand that the aviation industry will continue to grow as the number of aircrafts into Changi will increase and this will improve SATS performance.
But is the price a bit high now @ around $3.30?
I thought of getting SATS shares but hesitating as the price seems a bit high.
Cheers
Ian
Hi Ian,
No worries. Everyone has to start somewhere. I was a total noob 4 years back too. ^^
I believe it has a solid earnings potential in the future. The new Sports Hub contract and Cruise Terminal.
The payout ratio is around 70%. I think SATS can maintain the current level of dividends.
The price will be more attractive nearer to $3. The price may drop after XD. So, you could choose to enter after XD.
Cheers!
Cheers DW. Thanks for the reply!
Hi DW,
I agree with you 100%. Am on same strategy, i.e. shooting the yields, for past 2 1/2 years (staying the course. Have taken opportunity to restructure portfolio to strengthen my income flow and quality of stock picks. Have added religare, ums holdings, aimsampi, huctchinson port etc.
Regards
Hi DW,
sorry to ask a noob qns. Where do u normally check a certain stock's dividend and it's xd date?
Hi lotustpsll,
I am glad things are going well for u too!
Yup. Stay the course. ^^
Hi Newbie,
You can check stock dividends from SGX.com. You can also look at the dividend history too. Very helpful website.
You can also check the dividends from the company's website under "Investors' Relations" section.
However, some companies may not have such a section on their websites. So, the best option is still go to SGX.com
Cheers! ^^
Hi DW,
I am also surprised you ditch K-green and selected Sats, mapletree ind and neratel. You have explained your reason on K-green and Sats, how about mapletree Ind? You bought at 1.46. Why didn't you buy at its recent bottom? What potential do you see for neratel?
Hey DW, have u considered comfort delgro with regards to its recent price? The dividend payout looks good in my noob opinion.
Pardon me if i ask under which section do i look at SGX.com because i can't seem to find the info.
Thanks n regards
Hi DW,
I like your focus on dividend for cashflow. Keep it up!
Hi Dividend Chaser,
1.46 for MIT is a reasonable price for me. It is building a property for Equinix, ready in 2014. I see catalyst for DPU increase.
Neratel has just bought over its Malaysian subsidiary. I foresee an increase in profits. Stable dividends too.
Hi Peng,
No. Comfortdelgro is not on my watchlist at the moment. I am not sanguine on transport stocks.
Hi Newbie,
Go to SGX.com
Search for the stock u want.
Click on the stock
Look at the Corporate Actions section on the bottom right corner
Hi ozxinvest,
Thanks for the compliment! ^^
Hi DW, I am following your blog for a while now and started to build up a portfolio of stocks since 2012 (a bit late I know).
Currently I only have SingTel and US/European/German investment grade companies in my portfolio, but would like to include some REITs as well.
As I do not trust in US mortgage based REITs I am considering to buy Singapore REITs. However, as you already mentioned in a previous post, prices are already very high.
I am therefore considering buying Mapletree Industrial due to its recent correction and decent yield of 7%. It seem to have had a solid financial evolution in the past years as well.
How do you evaluate risks and prospects for MIT in comparison to established commercial REITs like Capitamall? Do you consider industrial REITs to be more cyclical than commercial ones?
Good luck and keep investing!
Hi wonder if u have receive the AIMS reit dividends which supposedly payout on 18 June 2013... I only get partial of it todate, is it normal?
Newbie here who is just collecting dividends first time...
Hi DW,
Just my 2 cents view, the average monthly dividend income should be calculate based on 12 months, instead of 6 months as most corporations declare their dividends in first first half of the year. Of course, REITs are declare on quarterly basis. So to be prudent, it should calculate based on 12 months. :)
