The Clementi Mall has potential....but it's too small. Variety of retail options are limited. But F&B will be successful here as there is definitely crowds here.
I dun think it is "TOO" small. The size is not humongous, but still reasonable.
I just feel that the space could be better utilised. I mean, the space between The Clementi Mall and the new HDB shops should somehow be integrated, and not separated into mall on one side, HDB shops on the other side. More retail levels could result with more retail space being able to let out in this case.
And somehow it's a pity they couldn't extend the building "over" the new bus interchange. Right now, the bus-park is open-air. If they could somehow build over the new bus park, each level would be larger than it's current size.
But of course, it's not SPH's fault, but HDB's. Suffice to say, a mall is better than no mall at all. It's long overdue in Clementi, and the mall does bring more bustle to the town centre.
Just my 2 cents :)
Yup. I agree tat the mall should be integrated better with the bus interchange, like Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio. Well, HDB surely have some construction limits and rules to follow. Sighz.......
I live above the mall. As a resident, I think parking is a huge problem. Already some of the shoppers park illegally at the season parking lots. Thus, I think the mall should target itself as a convenience shopping rather than a mid-market mall in order to attract those commuting via bus and MRT.
I think the mall is just the right side. Considering it is more convenience than a niche type of mall. It should have attracted more of those that caters to education instead of clothings due to it's proximity to the NUS, NTU, SP and NP etc but so far i only found NLB, popular etc in there.
It's too small to be any more successful than it is now. WIth the Empress cinema being redeveloped, it could mean also more traffic for the Clementi Mall rather than a competition.
I think CM holdings paid too high for this mall. Given it's size, it could have been below the SGD 500mio mark.
